It doesn't matter where in South Dakota you're from – sooner or later, it's going to snow.

But exactly how much it snows varies widely across the state, with some communities accumulating much more than others.

Lead, a former mining community still home to about 3,000 people in western South Dakota, is the state's snowiest city, averaging 182 inches of snow a year, according to HomeSnacks, a rankings website that used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to find out what cities in the state receive the most annual snowfall.
