BEDFORD – Bedford's senior tandem of quarterback Bennett Matthews and running back Brody Helton has caused headaches for the opposition all season long.
Ryan Francoeur and his Winnacunnet High School football team found out first-hand why on Friday, Nov. 14 in a Division I quarterfinal at Bedford High School.
Matthews ran for 69 yards, threw for 93, intercepted a pass, ran in a touchdown, threw for another, and returned a punt for a third, while Helton ran for 164 yards and scored a touchdown as the top-seeded and undefeated Bulldogs jumped out to a 24-0 lead with 1:57 left in the first quarter and never looked back in a 44-13 win over No. 8 Winnacunnet.
