Today in Glasgow, I set out my demands ahead of the UK Budget on November 26. The importance of this budget cannot be overstated. ‌

I am crystal clear that the budget must be a Labour budget - with Labour values and principles at its core. And for that to happen, it must confront child poverty first and foremost. ‌

To do this, we must scrap the two-child benefit cap. I have been calling for the cap to go when we have a sound economic outlook for years. ‌

It is now our chance to do so.

Secondly, the budget must make life easier for working people. It must improve living standards and for that to happen we need a package to lower energy bills.
