West Linn junior quarterback Sloan Baker threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the top-seeded Lions defeated No. 8 Jesuit 42-28 in the quarterfinals of the Class 6A football state championship Friday night at West Linn High School.
“They were a good team. They definitely gave us a good test in the first half and going into halftime 14-14,” Baker said. “But it was definitely a great team win. The coaches gave us a nice talk and got us motivated, and we came out faster than we ever have. After we got our first defensive stop, our offense just got rolling from then.”
