Coventry City are only a third of the way into the new Championship season but the club is already being tipped for an automatic promotion spot.

Sitting at top of the league for the last six weeks, the Sky Blues are leading the pack with 34 points – five clear of second placed Middlesbrough and seven away from third placed Stoke .

And it’s interesting to look at how that tally compares to this time last year, and in particular the teams that dominated the chase for automatic promotion – Leeds United and Burnley.
