Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said cyber fraudsters created a fake Facebook account in his name and are sending distress messages seeking financial help to his friends, which are reading: “I’m in trouble, please send money.”
Believing in the message, one of my friends had already transferred Rs 20,000 to a fraudster’s account and got deceived.
He urged netizens not to believe in messages seeking financial help — by anyone. Never respond to such requests or messages from anyone. He suggested that suspicious links, messages and video calls from unknown numbers and contacts should be blocked. Before acting on any request, contact the person directly on phone, he suggested.
