Jammu, Nov 15: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Saturday demolished a house and five commercial properties belonging to a detained narcotics smuggler, police said.
The demolition, carried out jointly by police and the district administration at Narsoo village in Chenani along the Jammu–Srinagar highway, targeted properties owned by Makhan Din, a habitual offender involved in a drug case registered at Rehambal last year. He is currently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal under the PIT NDPS Act.
Police said Din had encroached on state land to build the structures, valued in crores, using proceeds from narcotics trafficking. The action, they added, is part of a broader crackdown aimed at dismantling the financial network of drug peddlers.
