A major rift has surfaced within the Lalu Prasad Yadav family following the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s poor performance in the Bihar Assembly elections. On Saturday, Lalu’s daughter Rohini Acharya announced on X that she was quitting politics and ending ties with her family.
She wrote,
I am leaving politics and breaking ties with my family. Sanjay Yadav and Ramiz had asked me to do this, and I am taking all the blame on myself.
The RJD won only 25 seats in this election, a steep fall from the 75, it secured in 2020. Tej Pratap Yadav lost by nearly 50,000 votes, while Tejashwi Yadav managed to retain his seat after a close contest.
