Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has announced her exit from politics and disowned her family following the Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) significant defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. The announcement came just a day after the RJD's poor performance, where it secured only 25 out of 243 seats, a drastic drop from its previous tally of 75 seats.

In a post on X, Rohini stated, "I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family … This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do … and I’m taking all the blame." Her comments have sparked discussions about internal conflicts within the RJD, particularly targeting Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of Tejashwi Yadav, whom she holds responsible for the party's electoral failure.

The RJD, which was the largest party in the Mahagathbandhan coalition, faced a crushing defeat against the ruling NDA, which won 202 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, while the Janata Dal (United) secured 85 seats. The coalition's overall performance was disappointing, with the Mahagathbandhan's vote share and seat count falling sharply.

Rohini's decision to sever ties with her family adds to the existing tensions, especially after her brother Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from both the party and the family earlier this year due to personal controversies. This latest development highlights the growing rifts within the Yadav family and the challenges facing the RJD in the wake of its electoral setback.
