November is the month that drivers in the United States are most likely to hit an animal on the road.
That coincides with the end of Daylight Saving Time and mating season for the white-tailed deer and results in an abundance of carcasses along the road.
Whether drivers are actually seeing more dead deer this year is unclear.
“Deer-vehicle collisions always spike around this time of year due to it being the peak time for deer activity. So people are going to see more road-killed deer at this time of year. That’s not unusual. It’s unknown whether there have been more collisions this year,” said Travis Lau, communications director for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
