BENGALURU: The final rites of Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka were held on Saturday with all state honours, in the presence of many dignitaries and in accordance with Hindu tradition, at Kala Grama in Jnanabharati.
Thimmakka’s adopted son, Umesh, performed the final rituals.
The public was allowed to pay their last respects from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday. Dignitaries from the political and film industries attended the final viewing.
Fans of Salumarada Thimmakka also arrived to pay their last respects. Thimmakka’s mortal remains were taken to Kala Grama in an open vehicle, and the final cremation was carried out at Kalagrama in Jnanabharati.
