Cars swamped by floodwater as Tewkesbury bears brunt of storm

Parked cars were left submerged in flood water as a market town bears the brunt of Storm Claudia's wrath in Gloucestershire. There were widespread road closures in the county this morning and a list of flood warnings in place, but now just two remain.

Both concern the River Severn including at the Severn Ham in Tewkesbury , where the situation could worsen - water levels are not expected to peak until Monday evening.

Photos shared by Tewkesbury Borough Council on Facebook this afternoon (Nov 15) show a car park underwater and waterlogged fields nearby. Drivers have been urged not to use Vineyards car park.
