CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Jacob Samuel Yang of Tama has been sentenced to over 17 years in federal prison for distributing, receiving, and possessing child pornography.
Yang, 37, pleaded guilty on May 22 to these charges. Prosecutors say from September 2019 to February 2025, he downloaded and stored child pornography on his phone and laptop. Court documents state that in March 2024, he distributed the material to multiple people and solicited sex from several children via messaging apps.
Chief Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Yang to 210 months in prison and ordered him to pay $15,000 in restitution to the victims. After his prison term, he will serve a five-year supervised release. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.
