GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Interstate 95 in Greensville County.
The crash happened around 8:51 a.m. at the 12-mile marker on I-95 southbound. According to the preliminary investigation, a 2005 Volvo XC90 ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then went off the left side and hit a guardrail. The SUV overturned and came to rest on its passenger side.
A passenger, identified as 62-year-old Rufus J. Whitaker, was partially ejected and died at the scene. The driver, 54-year-old Brenda L. Bullock, was seriously injured and was flown to a nearby hospital.
The crash is under investigation.
