NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A two-year-old boy has died after falling from a window of a high-rise building in Essex County on Saturday morning.
The deadly fall happened around 7 a.m. at a residential building on Elizabeth Avenue in Newark.
Police officers responded after reports that a child had fallen from a 20th floor window. First responders pronounced the two-year-old victim dead at the scene.
There is an active, ongoing investigation as authorities now try to determine what led up to the fatal fall.
Law enforcement sources at this time believe the incident is a tragic accident.
