CHICAGO, Illinois — DoorDash has agreed to an $18 million settlement with the city of Chicago, resolving claims that the food delivery company engaged in unfair and deceptive business practices affecting restaurants, consumers and delivery drivers, the city announced in a news release .

Mayor Brandon Johnson said in a statement that the settlement reflects the city’s commitment to protecting workers and small businesses.

“Our hospitality industry is critical to our economy, and it works best when companies play by the rules, workers are treated fairly and consumers see transparent pricing,” he said. “We are proud to have delivered justice and relief to the Chicago workers, small businesses and residents who’ve been affected by these practices.”
