When market trader Kasir Bashir was sentenced for his despicable crimes, it did not provide the closure his victim desperately needed.

He repeatedly raped and abused a teenage girl, but was granted bail before his trial and vanished before his case began earlier this year.

Bashir, who sold socks and shoes on Rochdale market in the mid 2000s, is still at large, and probably abroad.

While sentenced in his absence, his victim - known as Girl B - branded him a coward, who took the easy way out instead of facing justice.

She told Manchester Crown Court : "It’s like his last bit of control over me. But this is the only disappointment I have.”
