The New York Giants apparently aren't getting in the Bill Belichick business, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
After Belichick made a pointed statement on Friday that he's not interested in the open Giants job or any NFL job for that matter while he's coaching at North Carolina, Russini reported on Saturday that New York wasn't ever interested in Belichick in the first place.
"I’m told Bill Belichick was never on the Giants’ radar regarding the team’s head coaching vacancy, something that was true well before his statement Friday night disavowing interest in any NFL jobs," Russini wrote.
Belichick's denial of interest in the Giants job (or any other NFL job) probably annoyed folks in New York, so it makes sense word would get out that New York never had Belichick on their list to begin with.
Belichick getting another NFL job feels like a long shot at this point, and the North Carolina coach apparently doesn't want an NFL return anyhow. Alllllllrighty then!
