New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes will be sidelined eight weeks following successful surgery on his finger, the team announced on Nov. 15.
"The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. The expected return to play timeline is eight weeks and he will be re-evaluated at the six-week mark," said the Devils.
Multiples outlets reported Friday that Hughes suffered a "freak accident" that included being cut by glass at a team dinner this week.
The injury comes as Hughes has helped the Devils to a 12-4-1 record with 10 goals and 10 assists in his first 17 games.
