NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say two people were found dead on Friday morning after a house fire in Newberry County.
The Newberry County Sheriff's Office said emergency operators received reports of a house fire on Windsong Hill Drive around 6:30 a.m. that day. Multiple departments were sent to the scene, where they found a home burning heavily.
The sheriff's office stated that crews worked together to bring the fire under control quickly, but the intensity of the fire made rescue efforts nearly impossible when they first arrived.
Crews recovered two bodies, later identified by Coroner Laura Kneece as 44-year-old April Nicole Sutton Long and 73-year-old Leroy Seegers, both of Silverstreet. An autopsy has been scheduled for both in the coming week. Two other residents weren't home
