DETROIT — What a difference eight months makes. The stakes were lower, but Michigan avenged a season-ending loss to Notre Dame by dominating the Fighting Irish 93-54 on Saturday evening in a top-25 matchup.

Michigan got balanced scoring, shot well from all over the court and held Notre Dame to just 28 percent shooting to improve to 3-0.

Notre Dame’s star junior guard Hannah Hidalgo, coming off a record-setting performance, made just 4 of 21 shots and scored 12 points. She had two steals.

Notre Dame was the home team and chose the location for this iteration of the “Shamrock Classic,” despite it being much closer to Michigan’s campus. The 3,000-seat Wayne State Fieldhouse was nearly full, with Michigan fans slightly outnumbering Notre Dame supporters in this Midwest rivalry.
