BORDENTOWN — The Dragons are officially winners. And, yes, champions.
After opening the season with a potentially disastrous six-game losing streak, Kingsway spent the entire season fighting to get back to a winning record. That honor came in the final game of the season, a dominating 4-1 win over Phillipsburg in the NJSIAA Group 4 championship game.
After evening their record in the South Jersey final against Cherokee, the Dragons finished the season with a 12-11 record, the only time they've been over .500 this fall.
"If it seems like those days in early September are a long way away, thy are.
"When we kept going, losing and losing, it was really hard," Dragons senior Isabella Sanchez said. "Mentally, we were all down in the dumps. We really thought that it was like, the end for us.
