The Pennsylvania Air National Guard 193rd Special Operations Wing went into lockdown Saturday morning after shots were heard in the vicinity of a parking lot near the aircraft flight line.
The shots were heard around 10:45 a.m. on the base at the Harrisburg International Airport in Lower Swatara Township. That triggered the base’s active shooter response.
Harrisburg International Airport officials suspect the shots may have come from local bird hunters.
Security forces assigned to the 193rd, along with Harrisburg International Airport and Middletown police, quickly secured the base and confirmed it was clear.
One guard member received a minor injury while responding to the lockdown and was transported to a medical facility for treatment. All personnel have been accounted for.
