SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP – The Susquenita field hockey team made its intentions quite clear 23 seconds into Saturday’s PIAA Class 1A championship game at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field.

Addison Knaub converted a perfectly executed pass from Braelyn Prinz into the cage in those opening seconds and gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead while the crowd was still settling into their seats.

By halftime, the Blackhawks found themselves in the exact position they were against the Bubblers on Oct. 29 in the District 3 Class 1A semifinal – leading 2-0 -- following a goal by Alayna Conroy on an untimed corner to end the second quarter.

But, on this overcast, damp and chilly late autumn day, there would be no heroic Boiling Springs comeback and stinging overtime shootout loss to follow.
