One of Ohio's oldest colleges is now at risk of losing its accreditation status.
Wittenberg University, a private Springfield-based liberal arts college, was placed on probation for its accreditation status this week after a series of significant financial issues that the university has fallen into in recent years. Advertisement
According to the Higher Learning Commission, which regulates university accreditation status throughout the U.S., Wittenberg does not meet accreditation requirement 4.B, which states that “the institution’s financial management balances short-term needs with long-term commitments and ensures its ongoing sustainability.”
