INDIANAPOLIS —
An unprecedented number of states are in the midst of a mid-cycle redistricting push this year, but it now appears that Indiana will not be one of them.
Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray said in a statement released on Friday that the votes among the state's Republican members do not exist to support the redistricting push, and that because of this he would not be reconvening the Indiana Senate in December to work on the matter. "Over the last several months, Senate Republicans have given very serious and thoughtful consideration to the concept of redrawing our state’s congressional maps," said Bray. "Today, I’m announcing there are not enough votes to move that idea forward, and the Senate will not reconvene in December."
