Child Among Multiple Victims Shot, Some Killed In Newark: Governor

A child was among several people shot Saturday night, Nov. 15, in Newark’s South Ward, Gov. Phil Murphy confirmed. The governor also said fatalities were reported in the incident.

NJ Transit announced that Bus Route 39 is operating on a detour as police investigate. Chancellor Avenue is closed between Aldene Street and Wainwright Street.

Buses heading to Irvington are using Lyons Avenue, Cordier Street, and Chancellor Avenue, while buses to Newark Penn Station are using Cordier Street and Lyons Avenue.
