A police vehicle responding to a call crashed into another car at a busy Pittsburgh intersection on Saturday, Nov. 15, authorities announced.
The collision happened at 7 p.m. at E. Liberty Blvd. and N. Highland Ave. while officers were heading to back up a traffic stop on Black Street, according to the release.
Medics evaluated the driver of the civilian vehicle at the scene. She was not transported to the hospital, but her vehicle was left inoperable at the intersection, police said.
The two Pittsburgh Police officers riding in the responding cruiser were not injured. The officer behind the wheel was taken to the hospital to undergo drug and alcohol testing, which is standard department protocol, authorities added.
Investigators with the Collision Investigation Unit were called to the scene to process the crash.
