SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - Scott County Sheriff Derick Wheetley says a convicted felon is facing a new charge after an arrest for separate gun and drug charges on November 14.

Following Friday’s arrest of 41-year-old James Wesley Johnson of Bertrand, Missouri, Scott County deputies continued their investigation into the incident that began with a suspicious vehicle report on County Highway 480 near Sikeston.

After Johnson’s arrest, deputies searched the vehicle involved in the incident and found an additional 30.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine inside.

This discovery was in addition to the meth previously recovered during Johnson’s arrest.

As a result of the new evidence, an additional probable cause affidavit was submitted to the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession
