TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Arizona Historical Society will temporarily close the Arizona Heritage Center in Tempe while crews make critical repairs to the building and protect collections.
The museum will be closed from Nov. 10, through Jan. 5, 2026.
The Heritage Center building faced several maintenance issues before the recent Valley storms, and a break-in attempt in August caused significant damage. Water damage affected several areas of the museum, including exhibit galleries, the Steele Auditorium, and the front entrance and lobby.
The most substantial repairs needed are to the building’s HVAC system to maintain proper climate control for the museum’s collections and archives. Other needed repairs include correcting cracks, addressing uplift and subsidence in the museum’s exhi
