“Affordability” has become a hot-button issue for politicians, particularly for some members of the Republican Party, following what seemed like a pretty clear Democratic dominance in a lot of races last Tuesday.

Make no mistake, both sides rightly make a big deal about it from time to time, usually depending on which party is in charge and how the economy is going (or more importantly, how average Americans feel it is going). Most voters already know it’s an issue long before insulated politicians see the reality of it.
