BROOKINGS COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - An Arlington man has died and another was seriously injured on Friday following a two-vehicle crash in Brookings County.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the driver of a Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on US 14 near mile marker 415, two miles east of Volga, in the passing lane.

At the same time, the driver of a Ford Edge was traveling east in the westbound lane.

The vehicles collided head-on and came to rest in the westbound lanes.

The 50-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Ford was transported to Brookings Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released pending family notification.
