While driving through an orchard in Fresno, California, a compassionate driver was met with an alarming sight that made him stop in his tracks.

There, on the side of the road, stood a distraught dog that appeared to be crying out for help.

As he got closer, the man was stunned to find the dog was not alone. She was surrounded by seven tiny puppies, and it was clear she was protecting them.

He immediately wanted to take them all to safety but realized he couldn’t do it alone. With a nervous mother and so many small puppies, he knew he needed to call for backup.
