MADISON, Wis. – Madison's Black Film Festival is concluding after four days filled with films, conversations and community gatherings. The event, organized by the nonprofit Nehemiah, aims to celebrate Black storytelling.
This is the third year Nehemiah has hosted the free festival. Organizers say the event is growing each year, drawing in a wider audience while focusing on the voices and experiences of Black filmmakers.
"The black community in Madison, I wouldn't say, is struggling, but is unseen and needs to be seen and taken care of and heard," said Siobhan Jackson, director of adult education at Nehemiah.
Films were screened at multiple Madison Public Library branches, showcasing themes of resistance, art and community.
