TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Organizations across the area distributed free winter coats Saturday as temperatures begin to drop.

The Knights of Columbus held their Coats for Kids event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., aiming to hand out as many coats as possible. The event is part of a national program established by the Knights of Columbus in 2009.

The organization purchased over 1,000 coats for the distribution.

“My favorite part is watching the face of a kid that gets the coat that he really likes, or she really likes, and know that they’re going to stay warm the rest of this year,” said Jerry Burns, Grand Knight.

The Jerome City Fire Department also held their Coats for Kids event Saturday. They handed out over 600 coats, with another event planned for December 7.
