In retrospect, the Timmins Majors might have been wiser to forfeit their Great North U18 League contest against the Thunder Bay Kings Saturday night and attend the Santa Claus Parade.
Instead of getting to ask Santa Claus for a little puck luck, however, they absorbed a beat down that saw them surrender six unanswered first-period goals on their way to a 10-4 setback against a Kings team that dropped an 8-7 decision to the Flyers in Kapuskasing, Friday night.
Nothing seemed to go right for the Majors during that opening 20 minutes of action, Saturday night.
Owen Bodnar, with his second goal of the season, Nathan Vita, with his seventh tally of the campaign, and Michael Figliomeni, with his sixth marker of the season, staked the Flyers to a 3-0 lead, 9:53 into the frame.
