Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has publicly accused her brother Tejashwi Yadav and his close aides of humiliating her following the Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) poor performance in the recent Assembly elections. On November 15, 2025, she announced her separation from both her family and the party, claiming she was forced to leave her parents in tears after being subjected to abuse and threats.
In an emotional post on social media platform X, she stated, "Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated; filthy abuses were hurled at her; a slipper was raised to hit her. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and solely because of this, I had to endure this insult." She expressed feelings of being orphaned, saying, "They tore me away from my maternal home, they left me orphaned. May none of you ever walk my path."
Rohini also referred to her past sacrifice of donating a kidney to her father, alleging that she faced personal attacks regarding this act. She claimed that she was mocked for her donation and accused of receiving money in exchange for it. In her posts, she urged other daughters and sisters to prioritize their families and not face similar disrespect.
The fallout comes after the RJD faced a significant electoral defeat, winning only 25 out of 143 seats. In response to the situation, Tejashwi Yadav has called a review meeting with party candidates to discuss the election results.
Political reactions have emerged, with JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar questioning Lalu Prasad's silence on the matter, suggesting he should intervene. Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Prabhakhar Mishra expressed concern over Rohini's treatment, highlighting her past sacrifice for her father.
Rohini Acharya, who resides in Singapore, returned to Bihar for the elections and has been in the spotlight since her kidney donation in 2022. She is married and has three children. This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing family tensions within the Yadav clan, following previous conflicts involving Lalu's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from the party earlier this year.
