COLUMBUS, Ohio—Vivek Ramaswamy has collected an unusual number of early endorsements from Ohio labor unions, providing both practical and promotional benefits to the presumptive Republican gubernatorial nominee.

The endorsements, which so far have come from the Ohio Conference of Teamsters and nine building-trades unions around the state, suggest that Ramaswamy sees eye-to-eye with labor leaders on their key issues: particularly, opposing the passage of a so-called “right-to-work” law and preserving Ohio’s prevailing-wage law.

The unions’ backing follows a concerted effort by Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur from suburban Columbus, to win their support, even as he’s taken a strong stance against some other unions – teachers’ unions, in particular.
