From tours in Iraq and Afghanistan to setting up business in Wayne, 45-year-old Matt Mabe is using the skills he gained during his military service to find success as an entrepreneur.
Mabe is one of the 1.6 million veterans across the United States to own a business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. In fact, the agency said 5.5% businesses in the country are owned by veterans.
Last year, he launched Archadeck Delaware County, a construction firm that designs and builds premier outdoor living spaces from decks to porches and patios to outdoor kitchens and pergolas.
The backstory
Originally from New Orleans, Mabe and his wife, Megan, came to Delaware County 10 years ago when their oldest daughter was born because his wife’s family is from Wayne.
