CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police are searching for a baby they say was abducted from a Charlotte home Saturday night and could be in danger.

Ten-month-old Nalaya Crew was abducted Saturday night, Nov. 15. She was allegedly taken by 19-year-old Michelle Hemphill and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Timothy Lee Smith Jr. Hemphill, police said, is a distant family member.

Relatives told police that Crew may be in danger with Hemphill, who has no way to provide for the baby and is unhoused. She was last seen getting into a blue minivan off Monroe Road, close to the apartments off Old Post Road.

Crew is described as a 10-month-old Black female weighing around 20 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She is about 2’0”. She was last seen wearing a light gray shirt with black cheetah print, white pan
