WEST BRANCH, Iowa (KWQC) - Scattergood is a boarding school and working farm where students take regular classes while getting hands-on experience running a farm.

For students at Scattergood, studying there is about creating community.

“I am really big on community. My favorite part of Scattergood is definitely dorm life. I love the energy,” said Julian Weckmann, a student.

The school provides a place to find an alternative to public schools while learning something completely outside of a normal school day.

“I remember my first PE class was farm team with Ben, and I was just like, what am I doing? I hate this. It’s terrible. And now I come here voluntarily to do work. I love the farm. It’s great,” said Dylan Palmarini, a student.

Students also have an opportunity to be outdoors.
