A couple who launched a legal battle in a bid to prolong their little girl’s life have spoken of their joy at finding out they are expecting another baby.
Dean Gregory and Claire Staniforth are adding to their family two years after the death of their eight-month-old daughter Indi.
Little Indi, who was born with energy-sapping Mitochondrial disease , passed away in mum Claire’s arms on November 13, 2023, after her life support was removed.
The family had been offered help from consultants at Rome’s Bambino Gesu Pediatric Hospital who were willing to perform surgery to potentially prolong Indi’s life. But doctors at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust insisted it would be kinder to let Indi die than extend her suffering.
