ROSWELL, Ga. — Crews in Roswell battled a "hidden fire" through the night at an apartment complex into Sunday morning, the fire department said.

A post on Facebook by the Roswell Fire Department said it happened on Ashley Forest Drive, which appears to be part of The Atlantic Newtown complex. The department said "several apartments sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage."

It began just after midnight.

There were 17 residents displaced, the post said, and one cat was rescued. A firefighter from a neighboring agency who'd responded also was taken for evaluation of a minor injury.
