The South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled that the execution of a Sumter County man on death row for 2004 killing spree can proceed.

The justices denied Stephen Bryant's request to delay his execution on Nov. 10, according to court documents. He is scheduled to be put to death on Nov. 14.

Bryant shot four people, killing three of them, in October 2004 during a spree that included mocking law enforcement with messages written in his victim's blood.

The high court served Bryant an execution notice on Oct. 17. His attorney E. Charles Grose filed a motion on Oct. 29 to postpone the execution citing Bryant being sexually and physically abused as a child, incarceration at the age of 11, and his mother's heavy drinking while she was pregnant with him.
