KOLLAM: The UDF has fielded the elder brother of a candidate to capture the sitting seat of the LDF. Siblings are against contesting each other in the Kallumkadavu ward of the Pathanapuram panchayat. Denson Varghese (45) and his elder brother Denny Varghese (53) are the LDF-UDF candidates. Denson was the winner in Kallumkadavu last time. The CPM has fielded Denson this time as well.

Denny Varghese was fielded by the UDF following this. Both were active faces of the SFI in the past. Later, Denny Varghese joined the Kerala Congress. Denny, a lawyer in the Pathanamthitta District Court, is the president of the Kerala Congress Pathanapuram constituency.
