In July 2024, witnesses saw Troy Chaumont almost collide with other drivers in New Sudbury.

A few months later, he crashed into parked vehicles in Garson, badly damaging three vehicles.

In Sudbury court, Chaumont, of Garson, was sentenced to six months of house arrest.

“I relapsed about a year and a half ago,” Chaumont told Ontario Court Justice Julie Lefebvre in Sudbury court. “It cost me everything. I have to start from the bottom. I’m going to fight for my life. I want to be the dad I’m supposed to be, the man I’m supposed to be.”

Chaumont, 41, pleaded guilty to impaired driving for what happened on July 13, 2024, in New Sudbury, and impaired driving, dangerous driving, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident for what happened on Oct. 24, 2024, in Garso
