WASHINGTON — An argument about chickens laying eggs ended in gunfire outside a pub in Florida, police say .
Officers were called to Harper’s Pub in Port Saint Lucie, Florida around 2:48 a.m. on Nov. 4 after 44-year-old Peter Riera told 911 he had been robbed and was being chased. When officers arrived, they found Riera holding a loaded handgun.
Three other people, two men and a woman, were also detained at the scene. Police said Riera fired four shots at the group as they ran, but no one was hurt.
According to witness statements in the report, the group had been talking with Riera, who they had just met that night and referred to as “Farmer Pete,” when a discussion about chickens and egg production escalated. One witness told police Riera became agitated, accused them of trying to “con”
