If it wasn’t already clear, Ridgewood made it clear on Saturday.

The Maroons are the best public school team in the state, and one of the very best public school teams in state history.

At Saturday’s Meet of Champions at Holmdel Park, the Maroons not only took second overall behind nationally-ranked Union Catholic, but they reset the public school Holmdel Park team average record with a time of 18:57 -- four seconds faster than what Voorhees averaged at the 2007 NJSIAA Meet of Champions.

Ridgewood placed second at Meet of Champions overall behind Union Catholic (39), posting a team score of 92. Its the Maroons highest finish since winning MOCs in 1999. Here were the times from the Maroons:

Katherine Keating (5th, 17:53)

Penelope de Valence (23rd, 18:55)

Maeve Schoeler (24th, 18:56)
