Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said he remains confident in his plan to keep NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch , but stopped short of making it official during an interview on ABC’s Up Close on Sunday.

Mamdani said he met with Tisch last week and discussed how to deliver public safety without the “distractions” of the past few years.

“I want this to be about the outcomes,” Mamdani said. “Because the most important thing is that New Yorkers are given a city that is safe and a city that is just.”

Asked if Tisch would remain in her role, Mamdani said only, “I continue to be confident in my decision, but as soon as there’s a public announcement to be made, we’ll be sure to share it.”

Tisch has not commented publicly on her status.
