HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Any time Hannibal junior Darrion Washington gets the ball in his hands, there's a chance for a big play.
That was evident in Friday night's Class 4 District 5 championship game, with Washington's playmaking ability helping lead the Pirates to a 27-13 win over Odessa.
"That's all glory to God," said Washington of his play. "Just once again, the work that I put in pays off."
Washington was Hannibal's leading rusher with 16 carries for 156 yards, including a 54-yarder in the third quarter.
Washington was also the Pirates' leading receiver with two catches for 81 yards, including a 82-yard touchdown catch early in the third quarter to break a tie.
